Statements of Purpose and Philosophy:
The Aleithia Learning Community (ALC) is a community of Christian homeschooling families pursuing the common goal of Christ-centered education through experiences and an environment that equips and encourages homeschooling parents in the true foundation for education and homeschooling students in the true foundation for life, in both time and eternity: the wisdom of God.
ALC’s ministry is built on four foundational principles. First, ALC’s governing philosophy can best be described as Christ-centered. This philosophy punctuates every aspect of ALC’s ministry. God’s intended meaning is emphasized in each area of knowledge….whether history, science, music or art….whether addressed to students or parents.
Second, ALC emphasizes the primacy of the parent as educator and the home as the center of education. ALC teachers and ALC’s program supplement and complement the parents and home in their educational endeavor.
Third, ALC recognizes that Christ has graced His church with gifted teachers. While maintaining the parent as the primary educator, we avail our community of homeschooling families with spiritually gifted teachers who have an expertise in their subject area and who model Christ-centered living.
And fourth, ALC’s organizes its educational materials and program around the classical trivium. At the grammar, dialectic and rhetoric stages, the corresponding tools of learning are taught and exercised through a variety of strategies and experiences.
